Throughout the year we have a number of special services, made more special because we share a number of them with the other churches in the village (Cronton Methodist and Holy Family RC) and the school.
April – we celebrate Palm Sunday with our Methodist friends, everyone starting the service at Cronton Mission and walking down to the Chapel for the main service
May sees us celebrating Rogation Sunday with our Methodist friends again. The first part of the service is held in church (Cronton) and we finish with a walk up to the fields to pray for a good harvest for this agricultural community. (Yes – come rain or shine, usually rain)…but not always.
In late September we are led by the school in a special service to introduce to us, each child in the reception class and to welcome them to Cronton C of E school and church.
A delightful and moving service, it is one of the highlights of our year.
The school take the lead again in October, at the Harvest service. In addition to local giving, the school gives to a third world charity as part of the global community.
In November all three village churches, representatives from the two schools and the local community groups gather at the memorial for a Remembrance service – it’s the only day in the year when the adjacent crossroads are silent and still. Many families and children attend, as well as those remembering loved ones
December sees the school Nativity at the centre of our Sunday service (usually the second Sunday) – powerful and joyous worship (who says children don’t know the true meaning of Christmas?)
